Website Migration Service for The 1st Hong Kong International Chromatic Harmonica Competition 2022
Background
The 1st Hong Kong International Chromatic Harmonica Competition 2022 was an unprecedented multi-faceted musical event presented by the Hong Kong Harmonica Association. It was held between 3 April and 9 April 2023 in Hong Kong.
After the completion of The 1st Hong Kong International Chromatic Harmonica Competition (ICHC) 2022, the steering committee of the ICHC wanted to minimize the future website maintenance cost.
On the other hand, the steering committee would like to keep a copy of the website for future reference.
Our Founder Ivan Chong proposed a free-hosting solution via rebuilding the website using Google Sites.
The idea was adopted by the steering committee of the ICHC.
Needs from Client
Since the original website was built leveraging two annually paid subscription services, respectively Squarespace and Weglot, in order to save the long-term annual renewal cost of these services (around HKD3,000 per year), the steering committee of the ICHC agreed Ivan's proposal rebuilding the original website using Google Sites.
Solutions and Services Offered
- Created a backup site based on the website architecture of the original website
- Preserved the support of 3 languages (English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese)
- Configured DNS and forwarding to point the link to the new website upon completion of website rebuilding

Summary
Our Founder Ivan Chong helped rebuild the static website of The 1st Hong Kong International Chromatic Harmonica Competition 2022 on Google Sites. After a round of review by the steering committee members of the ICHC, the new website had been approved.
Ivan then configured the DNS and URL forwarding to point the original site link to the new website.
The new website supports 3 languages, following the website architecture of the original site.
The annual subscriptions of Squarespace and Weglot have been stopped.
From now on, the backup site can run at zero annually fee using Google Sites.
